Nursing Care is for people with conditions or illnesses that require medically necessary nursing care. Generally, your physician orders in-home nursing care on your behalf when outpatient care is not a good option.
In-home nursing care means fewer days spent in the hospital and often contributes to a more complete recovery. Since 1967, VNA nurses have been providing care to the homebound with skill and compassion.
Here is a sampling of the kind of skilled home healthcare available:
- Wound care by a certified wound care nurse
- Catheter / feeding tube
- Ostomy care and maintenance
- Diabetic care and education
- IV therapy
- Medical/surgical care
- Dressing changes
- Burn/wound/skin care
- Medication teaching and monitoring
- Injections
- Catheter changes and maintenance
- Feeding tube instructions for maintenance and education
- Respiratory/tracheostomy care
- Nutritional counseling
- Infusion therapy via peripheral PICC or central line
- Colostomy, urostomy, and ileostomy care, monitoring, and education
- Post operative monitoring and education
- Venipuncture when other skill is present
- Teaching regarding the use of medical equipment
Medical Social Work
- Evaluation of home environment
- Counseling and crisis intervention
- Referral to community resources
Home Health Aide Service
- Personal care including bathing
- Personal linen change
- Dressing & grooming
Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurers will cover home health care services. VNA is a preferred provider with many managed care networks. VNA provides financial assistance to qualifying individuals with limited resources.
